Other Activities
Our trips are customized to each guest so it’s easy to mix in non-cycling activities. Some of the more popular options are listed below. If you don’t see what you want, just ask and we can very likely arrange it. We’re all about tailoring the experience to exactly what you want!
| Activity | Destination | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Balloon Flights | Napa & Sonoma | Rest your legs and let hot air do the work! On this trip you float over the Napa Valley at sunrise – sometimes at tree top level and other times at several thousand feet. Flights typically last an one hour and are followed by a celebratory breakfast. |
| Cooking Demonstrations & Cooking Classes | Napa & Sonoma | Join a cooking demonstration at the Culinary Institute of America. Then after the demonstration, sample the fare while seated on a terrace overlooking the vineyards of the northern Napa Valley. Cooking classes are also available if you want to practice what you’ve seen. |
| Golf | All | Stunning locations create stunning golf courses. Many of the courses are attached to properties we use as accommodation. For example, the nine-hole walking golf course at Meadowood, St Helena and the oldest golf course in Oregon at the Resort on the Mountain in in Welches. |
| Hiking | Napa & Sonoma Columbia River | Just as our destinations have world-class cycling, they also have numerous beautiful hiking trails. For example, hike through the redwoods of the Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve. You start out passing under 300 foot, 1400 year old trees and climbing up to alpine meadows with views out to the Pacific Ocean. All you need is your two feet, a trail map and a picnic. |
| Horse Riding | Napa & Sonoma Columbia River | If you prefer to use four legs rather than two, there is great horseback riding in both California & Oregon. In the northern Napa Valley, for example, you can saddle up and take to the trails at Bothe-Napa Valley State Park. The park is a hidden gem, with rich flora and outstanding views. Rides are available for both novice and more experienced riders. |
| Kayaking | Napa & Sonoma Columbia River | Both the Russian River in Sonoma and the Columbia River and its tributaries provide for some great kayaking. For example, after a day’s cycling, take a kayaking trip right into the sunset through the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area. Full day and half day trips also available. |
| Spa Treatments | All | You name it, and we can probably find it. From just a regular massage to mud baths for couples and cedar enzyme treatments from Japan. Enjoy a little pampering! |
| Whitewater Rafting | Columbia River | The Columbia River Gorge is home to some of the most beautiful and exciting rafting in the country as numerous tributaries flow out of the cascades, carving their way through stunning ravines. There are whitewater rafting trips for all skill levels; from the remote class III Klickitat River to the more accessible basalt canyons of the White Salmon River. |
| Wine Tours & Reserve Tastings | Napa & Sonoma Willamette Valley | Enjoy a private tour and tasting at one of the hundreds of wineries that line our bike routes. From the venerable Opus One in the Napa Valley to the “bio-dynamic” Quivira Winery in the Dry Creek growing region. In the less-travelled Willamette Valley it is often necessary to make appointments for tastings. So, if you have your heart set on sampling a particular Pinot Noir, let us know and we’ll make the arrangements. |
| Ziplining | Napa & Sonoma | Discover the world-famous California Coastal Redwoods in a way you never imagined: via an 800 feet zipline. Walk sky bridges high in the air and take in panoramic forest views. High adventure – literally! |
