Napa Valley & Sonoma Valley Wine Country Bike Tours
With great weather, breathtaking scenery and over 500 vineyards, the wine valleys of Napa and Sonoma are a cyclist’s paradise. On your route through this California Wine Country you will explore the classic wine regions of Napa Valley, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley and the Russian River. We guide you to the world famous wineries and also help you discover the bio-diverse, family-run, organic winery that is hidden from the casual tourist.
Toward the end of your trip, you bike down deserted single-lane roads winding through mighty redwood forests before emerging onto the pristine Sonoma Coast. In fact, the terrain is so varied that one of our guests described it as six vacations in one.
The gateway city for this trip is San Francisco and with the rolling valleys and surrounding mountains there’s terrain to suit all levels of biking.

Best Times to Visit
The best seasons to vacation in the Napa and Sonoma wine country are spring, summer and fall.
- In spring, we see the temperatures rise and the pastureland becomes carpeted with a rainbow of wild flowers. Temperatures are mild and, by April, the risk of rain is much lower. The perfect time to get back on your bicycle!
- Summers are hot and sunny and the grapes begin to ripen on the vines. The massive redwood groves and numerous shady forests offer perfect relief from biking in the midday sun.
- Fall is grape-picking season. The wineries are buzzing and the fields are sweet with the smell of the crush. This is also the warmest time of the year on the coast.
- In winter there are many bright, crisp days with clear skies. However, there is also the risk of rain. If you cycle at this time of year, we recommend that you are prepared for rain and have warm clothing in case of morning frost.
The charts below show the monthly average temperatures (in Fahrenheit) and rainfall (in inches) for the California Wine Country towns of Calistoga and Healdsburg, the coastal town of Fort Ross, and the in-between town of Occidental.
