OUR BICYCLE TOURS - Custom Training Camp

Our Custom Training Camp is all about helping riders achieve specific training goals with personal training plans and hand-picked routes.

California and Oregon are two of the most beautiful places in the world to ride and are great for cycle training. This is just one of the reasons that National Geographic Adventure Magazine named this camp one of their 25 Best New Trips of 2009.

Before You Travel

A month or so before arriving at camp, you talk with your coach – typically by phone – to assess your current fitness level and discuss your training goals.   Based on this consultation, your coach designs a training program – typically 5 to 7 days.

When You Arrive

At the start of the trip, you meet in person with your coach and review the training plan.  They will go over each day’s routes to help you explain how the rides fit with your training plan.  Before you start riding, your coach may also have suggestions about your bike set-up.  They can also advise on nutrition, bike handling, psychology and other aspects of performance.

During Camp

Power meters are a great way for your coach to monitor your performance. These advanced training tools measure speed, cadence, speed and, most importantly, power output.  There are several models to choose from and we can help you choose the best one for you.

Most riders choose to have nightly or bi-nightly consults with the coach by phone or email.  Based on what your coach observes, they will often update your training plan.  Most riders also enjoy a post-ride massage.

After Camp

After the camp is over, the coach will discuss with you to assess how well you did against your objectives and make suggestions for future training.
